Dango Adventure! (Ryner&Senida)

neon-senida:

Debates weren’t exactly on her list of fun things to do, but it’d be something, right? Ryner had seemed to have agreed with her, though, so it seemed like it wouldn’t come to that. Senida didn’t feel embarrassed much at all at the moment, and if she had said something stupid, she’d probably just deny it or change the subject. Either way, it would work out.

Basilisks were definitely annoying in the sense that it was difficult to get rid of them. However, she didn’t think she was prying too much with her questions. He just seemed to tell when she asked, so she didn’t think he didn’t want to talk about it. Maybe she was just nosy. Her curiosity had a kind of its own, and she didn’t mind answering certain questions, unlike others.

Failing to realize his problems, the albino continued on with her thoughts. The nearly-broken clock on the wall suggested maybe a minute until the train got there. Or so it seemed to her. And just as she was about to speak up about the ‘friends’ thing before she heard a loud shuffling noise coming from the distance. And, sure enough, the train had now arrived. While she waited for the passengers to get off (which wasn’t many), Senida sighed. She hoped it wouldn’t be took crowded. Turning to Ryner, she back up to the train a bit.

“That’s alright! I probably just misunderstood that a bit. I can tell you about them some, but let’s get on the train first~” At those words, she went inside the train to find a couple of seats before finding some near the middle. Walking further through the train, she looked back to make sure the guy had followed her before taking a seat in the booth. It was roomy enough to not be crowded, which was good. Looking to the window, she blinked an eye as she waited for Ryner to get onto the train.

Sighing, Ryner decided to give up on ever digging anything out of Senida. “Whatever…” he muttered, yawning again. When was that train ever going to arrive?

But it did arrive, with another by-now characteristic loud shriek which caused Ryner to cover his ears again and bitterly frown as he watched it arrive. “Took long enough…”

Following Senida, he bumped into the side of the train beside the doorway by accident, yelping “Ouch!”, before he found the actual doorway and walked in. He sat across from the woman before he finally got a chance to actually look her over and see who had been irritating him for the last…thirty minutes? Give or a take a few.

“Right. So why are you so bright anyway…” Ryner asked absentmindedly, not realizing that he was being incredibly blunt.

sixth—sense:

“Lead ya WHERE exactly? I’m just as lost as you are, remember?”

He was a total SPAZ, wasn’t he? But at least he stopped asking about her history. She wouldn’t mention it. No one had to know, and she didn’t have to recall. Best way to keep it a secret, and everyone’s happy.

You can start by askin’ around. I’m just gonna wing it.”

Sice’s tone was somewhat confusing. She sounded like she was trying to push him away, and yet there seemed to be this small portion of that voice which was hidden beneath the layers of her denial.

Maybe she was one of those types who had that iron exterior but was super cute and cuddly on the inside or something. Kind of like a …burnt marshmellow… or like a vault.

Thinking along those lines, Ryner could infer that she probably had some sort of traumatic event in the past that caused her to act like this, simply because all of the other people that Ryner had met who acted defensive were always guarding something about themselves. And as she didn’t seem to be the type to secretly be harboring a personality where she wanted to consume the world, nor was she expressing her desire to skewer him, it was more likely than not something that hurt her in the past.

But that was something that wasn’t Ryner’s problem, and he really wanted to keep it that way.

“And WHERE exactly are you going to ‘wing’ it?” Ryner asked sarcastically, starting to look around, seeing if they could find anyone who could tell them directions.

Of course, the street was completely empty, and the only sound for the next few blocks seemed to be dry grass blowing in the wind.

*sigh*

Dango Adventure! (Ryner&Senida)

neon-senida:

The albino was usually very cheerful when it came to people. She was ever the optimist, and tried her best to look at the positive side of things. Even if that meant making people feel better— which was just fine in her opinion. And if Ryner wasn’t being cheerful, she would just have to try and get him out of gloom, right? Now, Ryner was actually quite wrong about her not knowing the troubles of traveling around. Take the basilisk encounter, for example.

“On the contrary, I do know~ Basilisks aren’t fun to play with, you know. The forests surrounding Nasthulu aren’t the safest of places to travel through, but you have to travel through them to get out of the village. While they do a great job of keeping outsiders out, it’s really annoying for any novice wizards who have to go to any places nearby.” She had had to go through there when she, Hoshi-sensei, and the other wizards-in-training had left the village to train away from home. But that was before she had started going to Sithluon. Now, she knew how to take care of a basilisk. Though, it still wasn’t recommended that anyone fight one, since they can do deadly damage with a simple gaze.

And while Senida’s journey was toward lands outside of the magic village, her parents were sure she’d be able to take care of herself. Which was why they trusted her to make it through the forest every time before and after her school’s breaks. His statement confused her a bit. Hadn’t she told him something about herself?

“I’m pretty sure I have, but I guess you can ask away unless it’s too personal.”, she chimed, not too bad when it comes to questions as long as they didn’t get annoying or anything of the line-crossing sort.

“I suppose.” Ryner decided that it would probably be a better idea to simply either flatly agree with her or deny her rather than getting into a heated conversation. He already felt the heat of embarrassment a little bit and didn’t want it amplified by him saying something stupid.

Safer to just keep his mouth shut.

Ryner remembered Basilisks from the time that he was in the Roland Royal Special Military Academy. Their hissing really irritated him more than anything, but Ryner supposed that without given proper training or tools it would take some time to get rid of one, whether it be permanently or simply for a short period of time.

What did she mean? She was prying in all about his friends and such. Perhaps she just didn’t see things in the same light that Ryner did.

She hadn’t crossed any social lines or anything, Ryner’s throat was just starting to get a little parched, and the late arrival of the train didn’t do anything to make that feel better. Perhaps he was being a little cross and he didn’t realize it.

“Oh. I meant how you never really talked about your friends and such. You sounded like you were really enthusiastic about them so I was surprised that you didn’t tell me more. I guess I phrased what I said wrong and made it sound like something that it wasn’t supposed to sound like.

Dango Adventure! (Ryner&Senida)

neon-senida:

stargazinghero:

“Yes…I would suppose so…” Ryner’s voice became a little more somber when Senida talked about her brother, and how they would have the same accidents. Of course, Ryner doubted that her brother would be possessed by a demon who wanted to reduce everything around them to ashes. But Ryner was at least a little bit happy in his heart that someone cared enough to actually talk to him about it.

Not that he would tell her that.

Senida’s cheerfulness took Ryner a little off his beat, and when she doggedly asked him what Sion and Ferris were like, he leaped back a little bit, before scratching his head as if it would help him think of an answer.

A few seconds later, Ryner took a deep breath and sighed. “Well, I suppose they’d be my friends…at a stretch. I do care about Ferris and Sion. You see, Sion is the King of Roland, where I used to live and work. I would say he’s a hardworking person, but that’s not even the half of it. He refuses to eat at times, and he just brings trouble to everybody around him. Including me.”

“Ferris, was my companion back when Sion was having run errands for him all over the globe. We were searching for “Hero Relics”. Basically, she was supposed to keep me in order and make sure I was doing my job. What she actually did was eat dango all the time, and that’s when I started eating a bunch too, because if I didn’t then she would chase me all over the place - exclaiming about how dango was one of the basic human needs and other silly things like that.”

After saying all that, Ryner took a deep breath and sighed again, having finished his little spiel.

“And why would I want to go trekking all over the place? I don’t think you know me very well, but it should be obvious that I’m not the kind of person that likes going out of my way to do things that I don’t need to be doing. Yeah?”

His tone made the magic-user blink. It seemed…gloomy-ish? Maybe not quite. But losing control was probably something that he really didn’t like, so that was to be expected. His reaction to the duo made her laugh a bit, however. The way he leaped back was really funny. Did she really catch him off guard so easily? This game wouldn’t last long if that kept up.

Smiling as he finally started explaining about the two, she couldn’t help but blink. The guy actually had friends? Her thoughts hadn’t meant to be mean to him, but she thought of him more as a person who liked to be alone and nap rather than hang out with a few people. They did just meet, after all, so she shouldn’t have been surprised that her first impression of him was wrong. Senida was definitely taken back a little at how open he was being about it. Bringing trouble to everyone sounded a lot like her and Louise, however. Especially when they pulled off their pranks.

“I see. So I guess ‘Sion’ would be a problematic person like another guy I met here.”, she spoke up, referring to Hanna. He definitely seemed to be problematic, but that’s just how he was. “Traveling around the world searching for relics sounds fun, though!”, she added. But that was because she like learning about new things, which her curiosity assured that. Listening more to his story, she grinned. So that’s where the mention of ‘dango’ came from. At what he told her, she wanted to know even more what it was like. Once the train comes, they’d be able to do that.

Looking at the clock on the wall, Senida sighed. Still a good five to ten minutes before the next one came. At his words of not wanting to trek all around the place and how it shouldn’t be surprising, she merely grinned again and gave her answer.

“Well, it is pretty obvious when you decided to take a nap on the train.”, she chimed, putting emphasis on her last words. That enough should tell anyone he didn’t like doing stuff for others. And if that didn’t give any indication, his attitude was a big help in seeing that. “Still, I think it’d be very fun!”

Being bright and cheerful really wasn’t Ryner’s ‘thing’. Then again, he didn’t really mind Senida but… she was probably going to win their little competition. I…suppose I really don’t mind…do I….

But…

“How is randomly running around the world fun? You have no idea the troubles it comes with…” Ryner muttered loudly. In truth, it was a lot of work and wasn’t at all like people romanticized it because there was mountains of paperwork and other technicalities. On top of that, since Ryner’s ‘adventure’ was supposed to be secret, his own country had sent taboo-breaker killer teams because they didn’t want Ryner to be spreading knowledge of his country’s magic - knowingly or not.

“But that’s enough out of me. You haven’t really told me anything about yourself.”

Yet again..[Open]

kuruizaku-hime:

[She heard his words, but she was not sure how to reply. For the short time, the scratch was there is stung only a little, then she felt him grab her hand looking it over. She looked to him and tilted her head slightly at his comment, before slightly chuckling. She had gotten use to recalling not everyone was from her world before- It seemed thanks to her leaving, that had reset it.]

You are indeed correct animals do not like me, then again, not many humans like my company as well, so I am quite use to it.

[She lightly took her hand out of his hold, not wanting to jerk the man forward. She then recalled the questions he had asked. She was certain most anyone brought here and been through a lot, save some of the little ones, but even at a young age things could happen. She quickly pushed the thought aside before it could make her think. She moved over to the building wall and leaned against it, closing her eyes for a moment.]

In a way, you can say I have, but I have found most in this city have as well. Some just hide it better than others do.

[She then opened her eyes and looked to him, a small smile on her face.]

If you stick around me long enough, you will find out I do indeed bite.

“Hm.” Ryner acknowledged what she had said. It indeed did make sense. In fact, she reminded him of one of those old poets which seemed to somehow be eternally popular, despite being hated back in their hated time.

But that was a story for another time.

Nodding to show that he understood, he felt a pang of guilt. Of course there would be people whose company that he hadn’t enjoyed back in his own world, but he never really took it to heart. Seeing Shizuka’s downtrodden face when she mentioned that people didn’t seem to like her company forced him to face the reality of the situation.

She continued by merely saying that some people tended to hide their situations better than others, and Ryner decided not to pry. He would love to, but this didn’t really seem like something that should be discussed by two people who had essentially just accidentally met. In fact, Ryner didn’t know what he was even doing conversing with her for so long.

Sure, she was pretty, but that wasn’t why Ryner was bothering to talk to her. Perhaps he saw a little bit of himself reflected in her? He had thought about it earlier, and that was probably why she felt a sense of camaraderie around her.

But Ryner had been absorbed in his own thoughts for too long, and didn’t want Shizuka to think that he was ignoring her, so he looked up and smiled, an exact facsimile of hers.

“Oh? Perhaps I’ll be here to see the day that you bite me. But for now, let’s just be friends…yes?”

It wasn’t really a question, more of just a statement…but Ryner didn’t exactly know ‘How do you make a friend?’ Instead of racing the question through his mind a bunch of times, it would probably be better to just ask her if they were friends yet. Ryner already thought of her as one. It was just to see if it was the other way around.

Yet again..[Open]

kuruizaku-hime:

[Tuna? Yes indeed, it did smell somewhat like that. Once upon a time one of the people the Society offered her dealt with fish, so even if she had never had fish, she knew about them from his memories. Oh, a stray cat? He did indeed seem to be the type to have a soft side for animals, and she could see why humans did. Animals were interesting creatures, sadly, with her being what she was- They wanted nothing to do with her. She nodded once he finished his sentence.]

I see, that’s rather kind of you to do such a thing for a stray animal. [She caught the quick scowl on his face weather she was meant to or not, she wondered if she brought up a memory that was painful to him, or if he was beginning to tell, something was off about her because of her beauty. In truth, she had been waiting for someone here to hate her for what she was. She heard him turn and walk away, guessing he now wanted nothing to do with her, yet saw him motion her to follow. Was she wrong? She tilted her head a little, and then he spoke. Ah yes it was getting quite windy.]

No, I guess we would not want that at all now would we.

[She followed him into the alleyway, now thinking it was a good thing to be out of the wind, sand and dirt never tasted good. She made sure to keep her distance from him, in case she was making him uneasy, her wars were long over. Then she heard the meow of the cat, blinking she looked to the creature as it went over to him and rubbed against him, yet his chuckle did not seem very happy though.]

Frightening you say..? Well then, you may only be frighten by me more for what else I can do, then again I’m not sure what you’ve seen in your world, so I cannot say that with truth.

[She knelt down to one knee, holding out one of her hands to the cat, only when the creature looked to her and caught a whiff of what she was; it hissed and scratched at her hand before bounding away. She let out a sigh as she stood back up, even normal animals here did not want nothing to do with her. Looking to her hand, she noticed the cat had scratched her maybe four times, but they did not last long as they healed.]

It would appear that even the animals in this world want nothing to do with me either..

“Frightened by what more you can do…?” Ryner repeated, thinking of what she could do in his head. “How fascinating.”

Ryner’s smile quickly faded as he thought about the real repercussions of what she had said could mean, but kept a small hint of the smile still on his face in the end.

“You’ve gone through a lot…haven’t you?” Ryner said, seeing that she seemed to be suffering from something. She was keeping her distance from him too. Was she afraid of him? Did she think that…he should be afraid of her?

“What, do you bite or something?” he asked, laughing a little to try and brighten up the mood again.

His mouth gaped open a tiny portion when Shizuka knelt down on her knee to try and pet the cat. It was almost picture-esque. Unfortunately, the cat seemed not to like her and hissed and scratched at her. Ryner quickly grabbed her hand and looked at it, intending to cover it with a bandage…but it had already healed.

“So you heal fast. Interesting…” Ryner mused, rubbing his hand against his chin a little. “Animals don’t seem to like you. That’s odd. I thought you’d for sure be a crazy cat lady.”
